Nurse Family Partnership Graduation Celebration

On Friday, June 12, 2015 Maternal and Infant Care program celebrated the first graduation of three Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) home visiting program families and hosted a baby shower for current clients.

The graduates are (children pictured left to right):

  • Nichelle Newton, Ronnie Ewell and their daughter Makayla Ewell –June 19, 2012  to December 9, 2014
  • Britny Neal, Gregory Harris , Jr and their son Gregory Harris III – June 1
    8, 2012 toNovember 11, 2014
  • Kellie Miller, Ashard Strong and their daughter Charli Strong – September 11, 2012 to February 2, 2015.

Dr. Leana Wen, Health Commissioner was in attendance to congratulate and encourage clients. A NPR reporter also attended.

Guest Speaker S Monique Smith Person, founder of Known As Monique Foundation, shared her story of overcoming many obstacles as a single parent to become a successful Baltimore City entrepreneur.

Maternal and Infant Care Nurse Home Visitors and Certified Lactation Counselors, Latarsha Henderson and Celina Quismorio presented on the benefits of breast feeding.

Sixteen of NFP’s 36 current clients - 44% - were in attendance. All attendees received buffet lunch, as well as their choice children’s books and were able to receive raffle prizes such as car seat, convertible stroller/car seat and safety gates and many other gifts.
